Our Test Scores

East Hampton test scores are provided and are compared with the average scores of our education district reference group (DRGD). DRGD is composed of 24 towns having similar socio-economic characteristics. In addition our scores relative to those of 5 years ago are given to provide some insight into possible trends.

Note that because scores may fluctuate from year to year, to provide a more accurate assessment, East Hampton and DRGD scores are averaged for the latest 3 years available.

CT Mastery Test (CMT) Scores

Historically, these tests have been given in Grades 4, 6, and 8. Starting in 2005, they were also given in Grades 3, 5, and 7. As only 2 years of data are available for these grades, 2 year averages are used.

East Hampton scores relative to DRDG averages

Scores relative to DRGD are the difference between East Hampton and DRGD values. A positive relative score means that a greater percent of East Hampton pupils met the State goal than did the DRGD average. For example, if 60% of East Hampton pupils met the goal while only 57% of DRGD pupils met the goal, East Hampton's relative score would be +3%, i.e. above average.

Grade 4 stands out as being the only grade significantly below the DRGD averages.

East Hampton current scores relative to scores of 5 years ago.

Scores relative to 5 years ago are the difference between East Hampton's 2006 and 2001 values. A positive relative score means that a greater percent of East Hampton pupils met the State goal in 2006 than in 2001. For example, if 60% of East Hampton pupils met the goal in 2006 while only 57% did in 2001, the score relative to 5 years ago would be +3%, i.e. an improvement has occurred. Note that 3 year averages are used. Thus the 2006 scores are defined as the averages for 04-05, 05-06, and 06-07 school years. Similarly, the 2001 scores are the averages for 99-00, 00-01, and 01-02 school years.

Grade 4 again seems to be a concern.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Scores

This test is given in Grade 12. Given are the current East Hampton scores. Scores relative to 5 years ago are also given as well as scores relative to DRGD and State averages. Note that the Language score represents the average of reading and writing scores. All values are 3 year average values.

A positive relative score means that the current East Hampton score was higher than 5 years ago or higher than the DRGD or State scores. For example, if East Hampton Math score was 520 while the DRGD score was 515, East Hampton's score relative DRGD would be +5 points, i.e. East Hampton was above average.
